How old is the trimmer? I have seen the fuel lines go bad over time and have a pin hole in it that causes issues with the fuel feed.
It’s usually a pin hole in a fuel line, primer bulb, and sometimes there is one in the diaphragm. It could also be a bummer up carb. Try cleaning it through the filter housing with carb cleaner.
