I dropped my IPhone 6 into lake and it was in the water for 20 to 30 minutes. When I got it out, I shook it to get the water out and it turned on without me pushing any buttons. It was hard for me to fully power it down, but I did. I placed it in rice for 24 hours and only took it out once to clean it, after 12 hours. I got all of the gunk out of all the holes and plugged it into charge. The phone keeps vibrating and dinging as if it’s still on, but the screen stays black. Does anyone know what to do? Please help.

@jordn you can definitely skip the rice. It does not work! All it does is give you a false sense of security. It leads you to believe you are actually doing/fixing something. Rice does not remove solids left behind nor does it stop corrosion. From what you are saying, it does sound like you have not disassembled your phone either. The very first thing you want to do is to not try to charge or restart/sync the phone. This may further damage your phone. The next thing to do is to clean it. Disassemble your phone using these guides. You must remove all the EMI shields of the logic board. If you do not remove those you are not cleaning 3/4 of the board. Clean everything with +90% (no less than 90%) isopropyl alcohol. Follow this guide, and even so it was written for an Apple iPhone 3G all the points are still pertinent to your phone. Pay particular attention to the SMD components, check for charred missing or broken missing. You can then dry the board in an oven or equivalent at 220 deg F (not higher;-) for a few hours. Best way to clean it would of course be through an ultrasonic cleaner. Consider professional help with that When it is properly cleaned, replace the battery. All these steps are to avoid delayed failure caused by corrosion. Once all this is done, reassemble your phone and reevaluate. It is possible that it is “only” the display assembly that has a failed but that you can only determine once you cleaned the phone properly. If unsure about doing this you can contact the experts like @refectio about further steps.
