If you did not disconnect the battery when you replaced the screen, there is a good chance that the backlight circuit was damaged. The phone may be working but the display has no illumination. Try a bright flashlight and see if you can see anything on the display. As far as it gets hot, I’ve seen backlight failures cause heat issues if the coils are damaged. This may not be your problem, but it’s what comes to mind as a likely cause based on your description of the issue.
