Steps I’ve done so far. Erase the SSD and reformatted to Mac journal.Install OS Mountain Lion from internet recovery.Installed my time machine backup to the SSD from an external hard rive.Unplugged and plugged in the SSD to check if it was seated properly. Everything was working fine until I opened the laptop from standby then it froze and shut off. Now all it does when the computer boots up is go to a black screen with the folder/question mark. If I boot it up in recovery mode it only goes to internet recovery and does not show the SSD. Any advice?
I know that I personally had a bad experience with an OWC SSD for my 2012 Air. The controller started flaking out and I had similar issues where the on-SSD firmware was telling the computer to unmount the boot drive, which lead to system freezes almost every hour. I would try installing the original one and seeing if you can mount the OWC replacement as an external disk. Even if you didn’t get the envoy enclosure (I don’t blame you, it’s stupid expensive), you can find adapters on eBay.
