After I turned the power button on the label maker seems to go blank after trying to type. I try pressing buttons, printing etc, but nothing appears on the screen.

Check to see if the batteries are installed correctly. Also the batteries possibly are drained and need to be replaced. Also if you use a Ac adapter check to see if it is plugged in and pushed into the label maker correctly.
