Chosen Solution

I bought an iPhone 8 Plus with a cracked screen. the screen wasn’t just cracked, the display wouldn’t show anything or turn on. I replaced the screen and switched out the old home button onto the new screen. it turns on and works beautifully, except for the home button. I finagled around with it for an hour, adjusting its position and the tightness of the screws holding it in place. still, no home button function. does anyone know if the problem would be solved by putting in a brand new home button? or have any other solutions? I can’t wait to get this iPhone 8 Plus working…any help is appreciated.

First check the connections on the motherboard and on the screen where home button is connected. Grab a magnifying glass and check for any damage. If they are fine then clean the connectors with a qtip and alcohol and a soft brush. Also check the cable on the home button, it’s thin and easy to tear and the wires are smaller than a human hair. So if they are torn you will have to replace the home button. So if the connectors are ok and clear and clean and the home button cable is not torn then there is a possibility that you have a defective screen. You can test for continuity between the screen connector and the home button connector with a volt meter. If the screen tests ok you should try a new home button. You can purchase one from ifixit. The new home button will work but touch Id will not work anymore. The original home button is paired to the motherboard and no one can pair it home button for touch Id except Apple. If that doesn’t solve it then it had an issue with the motherboard. But that is highly unlikely. My guess is a bad connection or the home button cable was torn. It’s easy to do it and it’s happened to me because I was in a hurry and was tired wasn’t paying attention. I hope this helps.
