Hi, I have very little knowledge of MacBook hardware, barely anything. I changed the battery on this model, that’s it. So while trying to unplug the cord, I ripped the keyboard cable on my 15” MacBook Pro mid 2012 retina (A1398). Now I believe the connector on the mainboard is damaged. Look at the pics attached, is the keyboard cable connector damaged and or the mainboard one too? But what is actually damaged as I have no idea what is the “Normal state”… What is the blue plastic thing purpose at the end of the cable connector? Could I glue or weld it back together to the connector on the mainboard? Also on the MB connector, there is a thing that pivot. Is this originally part of the keyboard wire connection? I am not sure how I could fix this…What do you think? How would you fix this (I’m looking for cheap hack more than replacing everything) Thanks for your help ✌️
Ouch! You got a lot of damage here. You’ll need to find someone who has micro-soldering skills as the logic board connector needs to be replaced as its beyond any repair. The ribbon cable has a backer which color is blue the darker areas are the electrical contacts. You did mangle it a bit, it might still work!
