It would occasionally randomly turn off but would function again after some amount of time - usually upon restart. HDMI still works fine. But I’d really like to continue using the display port. I’m not sure how exactly to diagnose the problem and if it’s a hardware issue, is it repairable?
Your logic board clearly has a problem. It will need someone with deeper skills to fix your logic board.
