I have a top-load Kenmore 400 washing machine. It has a very strong musty smell and after a load, there are brown chunks in the tub that are not from the clothes. I have done the bleach and vinegar solutions, twice, and the musty odor is still there. I want to take the drum out and clean it. How do I do that? YouTube has videos that people have posted to show how to remove and clean the innards, for other washers. I would like one for the Kenmore 400. Thank you!
Hi, Here’s a video that may help The tub part number W10389328 in the video, is the same as what is listed for the tub in the parts for your model. (See part #16 Agitator, basket and tub parts diagram). This diagram and the others should also help with the disassembly and the reassembly.
