I was taking the battery out to replace, and I accidentally punctured it. I successfully got it out, but I just wrapped the battery up in tape, and set it in a pie pan outback. I’m not sure if this is “proper” before binning.
It should be recycled but not by placing it in the recycling bin: this page should guide you in handling it safely.
