I’ve bought an iBook G3 model M6497. Everything seems to work fine except for the USB ports, neither of which works at all. Checking with a multimeter, the ports don’t even output any power. While I was taking it apart to upgrade the HDD, I noticed a burnt IC on the motherboard suspiciously near the ports. I thought maybe this is could be the issue, but the IC is burnt beyond recognition and I can’t seem to find a schematic online.

Can someone help identify the IC or know where I could find a schematic? If you need more info ofc feel free to ask

Be careful how much you spend on the donor board or parts - the snow iBooks are beyond common and go for pennies to the dollar. You can usually get a good one for about as much as a major part like a tested motherboard. If it isn’t cheap to fix, find another one - they aren’t expensive and even minor parts that are common can total out a snow iBook G3. Anyway, it’s not going to be easy to find a schematic for this since it’s older and not something most people will try and repair. Your best bet is to find a good example and use this for parts, or find a bad GPU motherboard with good components by the USB port, and repair the board you have. The chip is too burned to get the number off of it without a schematic, so a board or schematic is a required reference on this one.
