I have an LG LMXS30776S with the in door ice maker. Sometimes the ice maker works fine and you can hear the ice maker fan running. But intermittently the ice maker fan will stop working and the control panel will show error code IF. According to the LG support page this is the ice maker fan code. What would cause the code and issue to only present some of the time?
Hi, Being an intermittent problem makes it difficult to track down as you can only really test for the problem when the error is showing up, unless you can make it happen by using the test procedure as shown in the image below. The testing procedure looks for the possible causes of the problem Here’s a compilation image of p.54-55, taken from the service manual that shows how to test the icing fan motor. Note: I think that there may be a typing error at the start of the testing procedure on p.55. It says Freezer fan error (E IF) rather than Icing fan error (E IF) and the information on p.55 is just an expansion of what is shown on p.54. The Freezer fan error (E FF) testing procedure is shown on p.52-53.
