Ice not freezing completely and ice in bin melts. I have unplugged and replugged in the refrigerator. Also, I made sure all doors were closed completely. Then I swept out the front grill at the bottom of the frig removing all dust accumulation. It’s now been a couple of days, what little ice it is producing, the ice is not solid, it’s mushy and melts. From a service diagram, remove the cover on the freezer coils to check for frost clogging. If your self defroster failed, that coil will load up and drastically decrease cooling. You can check the defroster with an ohmmeter, it’s a small heater coil right under the cooling coils. If bad, buy & install replacement. Happened to my GE Twice - bad defroster design, 2nd was improved redesign, all ok since.
Check inside the freezer compartment. Does it look like it’s icing? Does it look like snow on the back wall? Of so, remove the back panel and use a heater gun or blow dryer to melt the ice from the coils. The unit may need a new defrost heater, defrost timer, thermistor or main control board. Also check for tight seal when door is closed.
