If the timing belt breaks on a 2.2L F22 Honda engine will it damage engine parts? Or can you just put a new timing belt on for the repair and the engine should be back to where it was before the timing belt break?
Kingfish, if your timing belt brakes during operation, the valves will meet the piston in an unpleasant way. you can not just replace the belt, but you will have to rebuild the top end. That is the reason for the importance of changing it according to Honda’s guidelines.
It probably would be damaged. If you can put on new belt and test before buy, then… Haynes book has instructions to show you how.
