My imac crashed and trying to reboot I get the file icon with a question mark flashing. Tried the disk repare application from the recovery mode (command R). But no success. Imac can’t find the startup disk. Ho can I recuperate the data? Not much backing up done lately… Thanks.
You’ll need to create a bootable external drive. Use the recovery services to format and install the OS onto an external drive (make sure you don’t select the wrong drive here) once the external is setup use the startup command Option (⌥) to select the external drive.
