iMac was not responding, never-ending beachball. I had to force quit the computer by holding the power button for 10sec. When i reboot i get the Apple logo and loading screen, during the loading screen the iMac stops working. IT loses its power… iMac, 5k retina late 2014, osx capitan.

Is there a possibility the hard drive could be broken or corrupted? I had a client who experienced a similar problem and once we replaced the disk (2011 model) this symptom stopped. I remember thinking the logic board was broken but it was only the disk. The computer is searching for the boot files and then resets to try and get them again.. Just a suggestion. Regards Alex

Hard drive was corrupted, it had “bad blocks” and that makes it unable to boot. The apple store was able to make a copy of the /users folder and place it back after reinstalling the computer. I was a software issue.
