New cartridge but continues to say incompatible cartridge

My printer HP deskjet 2050 still says black cartridge is incompatible. It also displays that my printer is configured

Verify that the ink cartridge is correct for that model. If it is not the correct part number then that would be a problem. If it is correct determine if the replacement is a oem or is it a aftermarket. Most printer companies recommend against the use of aftermarket ink cartridges. Sometimes cheap aftermarket cartridges might not be fully compatible due to the chip or even a ever so slight variance in the actual fit of the cartridge. Does the previous cartridge still fit and cause the incompatible error to go away? If you have another cartridge you can try I would do so, especially if the original one makes the error go away and the new one brings the error back.
