I have Formatted the Original HDD of the MAC A1150 using the DiskUtility of another MAC so that the Formatting Type is compatible…. I have created a Bootable USB with El Capitan Using command Line by the following command. sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ El\ Capitan.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia –volume /Volumes/TOSHIBA–applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ El\ Capitan.app The CLi successfully formatted the USB and installed the Installation media for El Capitan enabling the USB to be a Bootable Device… However, When I insert the USB into the MAC > Power up the Mac whilst holding Option And then selecting onto the Bootable Device I am getting presented with…….. A FOLDER WITH A QUESTION MARK INSIDE !! Any ideas to why or how I can resolve?

You’re trying to install OS X 10.11 “El Capitan”, but assuming you put the correct model in (15-Inch MacBook Pro from 2006), the latest version compatible with that model is Mac OS X 10.6 “Snow Leopard”. I could be mistaken, but I’m guessing the reason you’re seeing that symbol is because El Capitan isn’t compatible with that machine.

Mac A1150 can not install from external drive has to be internal drive/ dvd drive only!
