55" TCL has an intermittent issue powering up to a black screen. Clear indications of backlight are present. Occasionally, if left on, all operations will return to normal after awhile. Once working, it will be fine until powered off again. The delay once it fails is getting longer with time. Been getting increasingly worse for months. Too unreliable for daily use. Extended warranty covered it with a refund, but I don’t want to just discard it. Any help appreciated.
bird2brain if he screen is turning black but the backlight stays on and you do have sound it is most commonly the T-con board. If you lose both audio and video it is commonly the main board. We would need to see the boards and take some measurements to verify TCL (and others) use a hodgepodge of parts and no service manuals. So it’s a bit of work to trouble shoot. For now, while it still works (off and on) look around and see if you can price replacement boards.
