Hello, I’ve replaced a fair few iPhone screens but since iOS 10 it seems that even if I use the original home button I still get the error that the Touch ID Failed. When I go into the settings it does not get past the on / off part, then says failed again when I go to put a fingerprint in. I’ve tried hard resets etc. I always unplug the battery when I do the repair. I have not tried flashing the software but as I have many customers come in I’m concerned if thats the case for each repair then I’d lose the repairs altogether. Any solutions or advise? Has anyone else expierenced this? Thank you
I can’t count the number of iPhones I’ve repaired and I have never run into this. It has to be something that you are doing. If a reset doesn’t fix it, then its almost certainly hardware. What tool are you using to disconnect the home button flex? You aren’t using metal tweezers I hope?
Hey Michael, I would love to learn more about this error, have you found anything?
It is related to ios 10 devices. You should unplug the battery before you disassemble the cables. You can also restore the home button Touch ID when you put the iPhone in DFU mode and perform a repair and restore.
It has nothing to do with flex cable. It’s the update that detects screen being removed and touch id will be disabled after. That’s how Apple makes more money. No solution yet.
