I am fixing an ipad air 1st gen. I bought a cheap screen for like $15 on ebay. I installed it and when i press the bottom corner itll start ghosting. I bought another one and same problem. I researched and foubd that taping the cables and edge of digitizer to not touch the frame will do it. I did that and still ghosting. I took it to the shop and he said my tape job is fine, and said maybe its a low quality screen. I already bought 2 screens, im worried if i spend $35 (the most expensive one i can find on ebay) itll still have the same problem. It only happens when i try to seal it and the bottom corner touches the frame. No cables and digitizer is touching the frame, im sure if it! Where can i buy a oem quality screen that will make it stop ghosting or what am i doing wrong?
I have had issues with cheap screens like this before and the issue is with the flex cables themselves. They pinch easier even if you are folding them correctly when you seal the iPad. Also, have you made sure that your home button flex cable isnt grounding out? The only reason I ask is because thats the only other cable I know on that side that folds when you seal it. I know this might be aggravating, but remove the home button including the flex cable and seal it. See if that fixes the issue. If you are repairing these as a side business, Id always suggest using higher quality parts. I’ve repaired 100’s of iPads and I always pay more for the part and I rarely have any issues.
