Does my iPad mini 2 have GPS and how do I know if it is working properly?
If it is wifi only then it does not have GPS. If it takes a SIM card then it will have GPS which can be used via a GPS based app.
I discovered by accident that you can get GPS to work with a Wi-Fi-only iPad mini 2 in special circumstances, despite the absence of a cellular antenna that’s normally used for GPS reception. The trick is to avoid the use of the 2.4GHz radio, by disabling Bluetooth and restricting Wi-Fi to 5GHz only. Then GPS works; at least I have Pokemon Go running in the house. I would love to know why this works.
