I have an iPhone 4, the battery started bulging and pushing the back out so I got it replaced. With the charger plugged in the phone is fine and sitting on the table on standby its perfectly fine however if I try to use it is crashes. The led light acts as almost an indicator, it flickers is I change pages on the home screen and the faster I go the more it flickers, then eventually it will be off for longer than it’s on and then the whole phone will die and it can be booted up from off as normal. The phone changes fine and the battery runs down at about the same pace as when it was new, with the charger in its fine but when not plugged in it crashes a lot and can’t boot itself on as it seems to put too much strain on it. It almost feels like a power limit, the more work the phone is doing like loading an app the more the led light on the back flickers and the more likely it is to crash. Thank you
I agree with Brian Reeder on this. The part that would of been affected the most from the push is the front display assembly more specifically the LCD display which sits on top of the metal housing of the iPhone 4. When the battery bulged it most likely applied a significant amount of pressure on the LCD display causing it to flex and possibly cause physical damage to the LCD. My recommendation is to try another front display assembly (screen) to see if that works fine. You can test screens without disassembling the whole phone. You basically need to unplug the battery, disassembly to the part where the front display connectors are shown on the logic board and plug the new screen into the LCD and digitizer connector which is located at the top of the logic board. You can get a front display assembly replacement for your iPhone 4 from here: iPhone 4 (GSM/AT&T) Screen Guide to replace the screen: iPhone 4 (GSM/AT&T) Screen Replacement
