I recently replaced my touchscreen on my iPhone 4 following the guide on here since it was dropped and the glass was cracked. After it’s been replaced the LCD works but the touch sensor doesn’t work. Is there any reason for this to happen? When I tried putting back the old screen the screen worked sporadically. I was only able to swipe the lock screen a few times however this was not the case before i opened it. I had a problem with a screw missing but i dont think that should be the problem. I even reassembled at least 3-4 times to make sure the ribbon cables were all intact. This is an iPhone 4 Verizon version. Thanks
I just tried to replace a black LCD with a white one on a VZW iPhone 4, and I accidentally ripped the cable on the white display, rendering it useless. Then when putting the black LCD back in, I bent the flex cable under the frame accidentally, and now the digitizer works sporadically, and not in all areas of the screen. The LCD is one of the trickiest repairs to do on this, because even after you’ve painstakingly removed ALL of those screws, you can still damage the LCD while installing it. At least now I know for the future! Just make sure when you’re installing a new screen that once you’re actually putting the LCD on, you’re lightly pulling the cables through the frame the entire time, so that they don’t get stuck under it and become bent.
The ribbon cables for the LCD and touch screen can be bent or torn easily, so the cables could be damaged and you couldn’t tell. I would try another LCD and be very careful not to bend or tear the cables.
Mine did the exact same thing. I am worried that the problem was in reconnecting the cables that I might have damaged the actual connector or the cable as I had initially accidentally had part of one of the display cables folded under the logic board. Also, the screen warps with pressure around the edges. The screen is completely unresponsive only on one side.
Hey guys, I just got an iPhone 4S with a completely irresponsive digitizer in. I replaced the screen with no result. Tested multiple screens with a testing cable and without the testing cable without any result. If I look at the screen connectors on the logic board I see no damage to the connectors with a loupe (8x) nor did the screen start to work after cleaning with isopropyl alcohol. Any thoughts what could be the problem. Tried a software restore and reset already.
Boomvalk does all the screens work in another phone? It’s possible the touch chip on the motherboard have went faulty
Yes I tested the screens b4 and they should be fine. Can I temporarily fix it like the audio-IC chip by putting some pressure on the chip And put the protection sheet back on? Do you know where the chip is located in a 4S?
