I changed my iphone 4S battery with an ifixit battery. The repair went fine. I was letting the battery drain until 10% as instructed. When I went to charge the iphone, the battery does not appear to be charging and all I get now is the red battery symbol with the plug that flashes 2 times and then goes black. The only way I get this screen is when I try to do a hard reset and hold it for 10 seconds. I have looked at the port for lint, but none there. Changed to a brand new cord, still the same. Tried plugging into the computer and it is not recognized and still does not come on. I have tried other cubes and plugged into the wall and still nothing. I do not know what else it could be. I could change out the port, but I do not want to just keep throwing money at this phone. Others have said it could be a bad battery. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. God Bless You!
What was wrong with the original battery? If it was showing a low battery logo with a iPhone 4 charging cable showing up on the bottom of the screen then you have a bad charging port.
Having recently tried no less than four replacement batteries all which initially powered the phone but then would not recharge, I solved the “iPhone 4s will not charge"issue by:
- spraying a small amount of WD40 into the iPhone’s charging connector to chemically clean the connections
- connecting and disconnecting a charge lead a number times to clean the contacts mechanically As you may already know, WD40 is a water displacement product used for cleaning electrical contacts among other things. It worked perfectly in my case.
