When I plug it in, it shows the empty battery symbol so it’s detecting that it’s plugged in but it’s not charging. No water damage, no screw damage. Any ideas? Update

How long have you had it plugged in? Measure the voltage on the battery, it is possibly defective.
When replacing the battery on the iPhone 5, 5c and 5s some people put to much pressure on the battery’s terminal port and that micro-fractures the pins at the sides. This can cause the phone to not charge, home button and or power button to not work. I would check the terminal pins on the side of the iphone’s battery port and see if you may have damaged one of these leads.
