I have a 5c that is water damaged. I took the board out and soaked it in alcohol and lightly brushed it to remove some corrosion. When I try to turn it on it just gets extremely hot but won’t show anything on the display or connect to itunes. And for the record I am using a new charging port and battery and screen. Anyone know how to fix this?
@cabutcher99 you do have a short circuit somewhere on the board, since it does get hot. Heat=shortcircuit. You do need to remove the EMI shields on the board and then try to identify which part gets hot. Once you know that, you will need a multimeter and the schematic and see which part on that circuit may have shorted out. Water damage is the hardest to diagnose since virtually any part may have shorted out.
