For the past few weeks my iPhone 5s (running iOS 9.3.1) has been acting really strange (and been really annoying). It will say 100% then 10 seconds later be at 90% and then just shut down. Then it shows the battery empty screen. I tried letting it charge over night but it didn’t change a thing. I got around 10 minutes of use time out of it. Sometimes it will suddenly last 5 hours and I really don’t understand what’s happening here. I do know my home button is broken but touch ID is still working. I had a guy look at it and he suspected it got shorted out, because there was no damage to any of the connectors. He couldn’t find anything else. I hope someone can help me because it really makes my phone unusable. EDIT: Here are the pictures of the sides of my phone I hope they are good enough to see what I mean.

On here you can see that the screen isn’t laying completely flat in the assembly.

As you can (hopefully) see the screen is pushed up a bit. On the battery side I can’t push it down but on the side of the ‘motherboard’ I can. Don’t think that is intended right?

I agree with Marty Morrow. See that if the battery is puffy and bloated. if it is so, its the battery problem. i think it can be fixed by changing the battery.

the obvious thing to look at is the battery. Did the guy who looked at the connectors check out the battery? It should read around 3.8V on a voltmeter. If it’s higher than 5.0V, get a new one. also - visually inspect the battery - is it puffy and bloated? if so, time for a new one and be extremely careful removing the old one. the battery is glued down very tightly and requires heat to remove.
