My sister in laws Iphone 5s was given to me to repair as it will no longer turn on. She states that randomly over the past few months the phone would just turn off and now it will not turn off or charge when connected. I have tried power/home, different chargers but am without luck. Yesterday it turned on for a brief while but had a blank yellow screen. This phone is just outside of warranty and it is not jailbroken. Does anyone have ideas to how to fix this?
Matthew, does not charge and does not get detected by iTunes or your computer lead me to suggest a new lightning connector. Yes, you can also change the battery, but ultimately it sounds like the connector. Use these guides to replace it.
Tried a new battery? I’ve slightly damaged a battery when doing a colour conversion on a 5c (is was stuck Down good) randomly turning off. Found it was the battery.

I see a mix of problems. Please help clarify: Was, Randomly turning off Now, will not turn off Now, will not charge Is this correct? Sounds like there are several possible problems. Could be only corrupt OS, or only failing motherboard, or failed charging port with broken power button. It’s hard to tell without trial and error to find out what’s actually working.
