My iPhone 6 started having a really poor Wi-Fi range. I have to be close to router to connect, and it sometimes disconnects when standing just next to the router. And the connection is really slow. It reconnects after a few minutes. Some say I should change the antenna, some say I should only change the flex cable. What should I change? Thanks!
The front camera and ear speaker share the same flex, so it’s normal that both could fail at the same time. The WiFi antenna is in the same area but not physically part of the same flex. It’s actually in the housing instead of embedded within the screen assembly. Did something happen to the phone recently, such as a heavy drop, a repair or contact with water? Those are the kinds of events that could cause multiple problems.
There is an inter connected antenna on the underside of the board that may need to be reseated. Unless you are extremely diligent with the screw and all of the small parts I would suggest getting some help with the repair. If this doesn’t solve the issue there is also microsoldering options but we can cross the bridge on that after the antenna is checked.
Like Scott says replacing the wifi antenna is your first option ,it’s common for this part to fail and cause weak wifi.
