Hey all! Long story short: I ordered an iPhone 6 off of eBay and I tried a screen on it and it didn’t work. I got a full refund AND I get to keep the iPhone. Heres what I can tell: The Bad: I have tried two iPhone 6 screens and neither work. (One is an original OEM iPhone 6 Screen and another is a 3rd party screen.) The good: The iPhone is recognized by iTunes. But, I cannot tell what iOS version it is running because I have to trust the computer from the iPhone. Its practically free. Thoughts? Is there anyway to test the connectors on the motherboard?
Sounds like the phone may have a no-backlight issue. While the phone is on, turn on the screen as you would via the home button or power button then shine a flashlight on the screen and see if you can see the faint image on the screen. What I do is turn off the phone, turn it on and look for the apple logo via the flashlight. If the issue is diagnosed to be no-backlight, the phone will need board-level repairs done on the backlight circuit to fix that issue. You may be able to find someone locally in your area that does board-level repairs on iPhones, they can fix the no backlight issue for you which is a good idea. Can you take a picture of the screen connectors on the board? We may be able to identify any damage on the connectors such as burns, misaligned pins, damaged connector or even missing components near the connectors.
When you clip on the connectors make sure you can feel them clip on like lego. And always unplug the battery when trying on a new screen.
