Hi all, I got a very strange problem on my iPhone 6s. My original screen broke, so I replaced the screen. After the replacement the home button is not working, neither the clicking or touch id. I put back the original screen and the home button was working on the broken screen. I tried 3 different 6s screens and on no one worked the home button, only on the original screen. The screens are bought from different sellers so they are not the same. What could be the problem?
It has to be the screens. If it will work on the original screen but not the replacement screens and you have transferred the original home button to the the replacement screens and they are connected correctly then the only problem is the screens you purchased. I would find a higher quality screen and try it. Ifixit sells them. Update (05/24/2020) That’s a lot of work and might not work and he will lose the warranty on the screen. I have put on quite a few screens on and have only has the issue that I had a defective screen twice. It will happen with electronics. In my opinion he just needs to buy a high quality screen and he should be fine.
The original home button cable from the damaged screen can be reused with the new replacement screen. If some heat is used, the backlight layers can be taken apart, starting with the metal plate/mirror which has the home button cable enclosed inside. Depending on what is replaced, the backlight LED power cable will need to be soldered as well. Best of luck!
