Hi, I am fixing an iPhone 7 Plus for a family member and after the screen replacement the speaker does not work. After some troubleshooting I found that in a press a little below the display it works. Well here’s the strange thing. If I record with the front facing camera I get a sound almost like interference or something similar but the audio is still recorded from the mic. Attempting to play anything from the earpiece you don’t hear anything unless you press just below it. I have already replaced the ear piece to no avail and want to try and find the source of the problem. I do know that the display my aunt bought was for the iPhone 7 Plus but as missing all the little pieces at the top of the display were missing. I am wonder if there’s one piece that puts a little but of pressure on the connection pins that makes it contact. Can someone please tell me what I should look for? I don’t want to send this phone back only partly working. While it can be used the person wants to use it as their main phone again.
Hello many iphone 7 (i am not sure for 7 plus) suffer of audio disease due to an excessive mechanical fragility near the sim tray. It can create many different troubles such as no microphone, no ear speaker, long boot time etc. The most common failure can be observed with voice memo that is not able to record or play any audio memo. But the symptoms are various. this failure comes from a break of some join on audio integrated circuit. On a phone i had it was present or nit depending on how i hold the phone at the beginning and then it became permanent. It seems that it can be present on the phone but not visible until you turn off the phone and restart it, exactly what you do when you change the screen.. And you also practice some mechanical pressure when you plug the screen connector. Search for audio ic iphone 7 and you will find many subjects and discussion about this failure. If it is your trouble there are a good and a bad news : the bad is that it is not a diy repair the good one is that many microsoldering shop offer this repair service for a reasonable price. hope it helps
sounds to me like the earpice speaker isn’t making good contact, it has little conductive springs that make contact with pads on the front camera flex, sounds like its not making good contact.
