Hi, i attempted to replace my iphone 7 battery. I have put the phone back together and the iphone home button does not work at all. when the phone is powered on a notification prompts “touch id, unable to activate touch id on this iphone" any help is appreciated.

You could try it in the broken screen assembly and see if maybe the cable is damaged on the new screen assembly. That is an absolute best case scenario. I would guess you likely damaged the home button itself in which case you cannot fix it without going to Apple. The are aftermarket options like the JC Home button which basically adds a bluetooth home button in place of the original but it will only restore home button functionality not touch id. If it is a customers device you are either stuck replacing the device or having it fixed through Apple unless you can work something else out.
