So I’m having issues with fixing my iPhone 7. I managed to change the battery all correctly and it worked fine after that. After a while I started to try to add the adhesive between the display and the back cover for water resistance, but I botched it somehow and now the home button isn’t working anymore. After booting it says “Unable to activate Touch ID” and there is no reaction whatsoever to pushing the home button. Questions: What components can be at fault in this instance?Could this be a software issue by any chance?Which of the lower two ribbon cable connectors coming from the front side is the one responsible for the home button? What is the other lower one responsible for? What about the upper one?If the home button is faulty, what do I need to replace to enable the Touch ID again? What information can I give you more to help me diagnose the issue? Pictures? Data from software? Thank you for all your help in advance.

I am not sure wich cable also carries the home button signal but from your description it seems to be a damaged which would prompt a whole display replacement. After installing the old homebutton on the new display it should work again properly. iPhone 7 Screen Replacement
