Hey, so I have an iPhone 7 Plus a1784. The back camera sort of works and sort of doesn’t. The camera on the left doesn’t work but when you switch to 2x telephoto, it works fine. The flash won’t work either. Now I’ve read online that it could be a motherboard issue or it could be a camera issue. The cameras for the 7 plus is expensive so before I order one I want to be pretty sure it’s a camera issue. What do you think? Pictures below

I’m not sure but I would recommend you buy it from a place with free shipping and returns.

Hello Logan! Based on my experience in most cases (nine of ten) the camera failure is the reason causing this kind of an issue. But just to be sure, you must have on hands known good camera for confirmation. All you can do is try to restore the firmware via iTunes (or finder if you have Catalina). If the issue won’t be fixed, try to reconnect the camera cables.

There are 2 separate cameras on the iPhone 7 Plus: Wide-angle: ƒ/1.8 apertureTelephoto: ƒ/2.8 aperture Since you have one the telephoto camera working, I believe the Wide-angle camera has failed. You cannot replace one without the other because the two cameras are welded together in a bracket. Although expensive, the replacement is relatively easy to complete.
