I have an iPhone 8 that I am trying to repair. The issue is that the charge port doesn’t work, the volume buttons don’t work, there is no vibration whatsoever (I have already checked the settings), and there is no sound. The phone will charge over wireless, however. Even stranger is that when trying to change the volume in control center, the slider is stuck at full volume and does not react to touch. I was just wondering what part is the culprit. If the taptic engine goes bad, could it cause all this, or could all the malfunctioning parts be damaged and need replacing?

Do you know the history of the device like whether it was repaired before or went for a swim? A bad taptic engine would result in loss of vibration and “click” feeling from the home button when it’s pressed. You could try to replace the charge port to fix the sound issue but as far as the volume buttons those are a different assembly. Just make sure you source good parts and stay organized for these repairs as they require complete disassembly of the device.
