My daughter was using her iPhone 8 and it suddently went dark. She thinks it was around 75% on the battery and was plugged in at the time. Now it will not do anything. I have tried many different power blocks and cables, all of which work on other Apple devices. I had it sitting on a wireless charger for long an long with no joy. I have tried holding various buttons (power and vol down, power and vol up, etc. etc. etc.) for various amounts of time with absolutely no response from the phone. I am just wondering what might have gone bad in there? Battery? Main board? I don’t really see how it can just blink off while in use like that. I am farily handy with multimeters and things, but just don’t know what to start with. Thanks!
Try starting with a battery replacement. If that doesn’t work, try a screen replacement. It could just be a bad battery, though it depends on how old the phone is and how much it gets used on a day to day basis
