Earlier today my phone fell off my counter, and when I picked it up it had shut off and rebooted to the apple logo, which stayed on the screen for about five minutes. The apple logo finally went away, and the screen was “on”, but nothing was on the screen. In the dark, I could see that the backlight was on but the screen was very very dark blue, almost black. It stays in that “black” state indefinitely, until I press and hold the power button or w/ the volume down key and the loop restarts. I’ve tried to force reset, but the loop continues. I’ve tried to update and reset through iTunes but I get an error 9 every time. Any help is greatly appreciated
It sounds like an Audio IC issue which will cause the device to boot loop like that. I would try a new battery just for kicks to see if it does anything else but it is most likely the Audio IC on the board which does require micro soldering to repair. I’d also check to see if the impact of the drop caused any flex cables to become disconnected. If it is a new phone that has never been opened, I doubt that will be the case, but if it has been repaired before and brackets were not installed correctly it is possible.
