I had just replaced my iPhone 5s battery and everything is working correctly except for my camera. I think it’s called the rear facing camera? Not the one that faces you - but the other way. It works fine if I change it to facing me but the other way around it’s just a black screen. It won’t work if I open instagram or the like as well - it won’t even register it. I reopened it up the phone to check and everything was connect correctly and looked fine. Is there something I’m missing?

My battery was replaced few weeks ago on iPhone 5s and recently my rear-facing camera & flashlight stopped working (phone reset would not help). After pressing with thumb on camera and shaking the phone followed by a phone restart the problem got fixed. I suspect my case it’s a hardware problem. I will wait to see if this problem comes back from vibration/dropping the phone. Then will go back to the shop that changed the battery to look into it if it’s their fault

I would try a settings reset if you are positive everything is connected correctly. I wouldn’t do a full factory reset unless the regular settings reset does not work. Hope this helps!
