So i dropped my iPhone in my pool for nearly 5 seconds while it was on, and i grabbed it immediately and i realized that after i had turned it off, let it dry for a little, the phone will not power on. I took my SIM card out, hoping that wasn’t damaged.
DJWolf™ Gaming just like any other submersion, it is a bit of a guessing game as in how your phone will respond to a proper cleaning. The importance right now is to not turn it on, or trying to sync/charge it. Please remember that any dessicant is only a first aid. It will not prevent corrosion nor fix shorted SMD components. It does not matter how long your phone was submerged since it will only take a fraction of a second to create a short circuit.Remove the battery, and disassemble it right down to the logic board. Remove any EMI shields and clean everything with isopropyl alcohol (90%+) and a soft brush, including all connectors and cable ends. Use this guide to see how to properly clean it. It was written for an iPhone 3G but all the points made are still pertinent to your phone as well. Of course, if you have access to an ultrasonic cleaner then you want to use that. Check for any burned or missing components. You may have to repeat this step a couple of times. Once it is cleaned, reassemble it and you must replace the battery, then reevaluate for any real damage. Right now, everything will only be a guess, and the longer you wait the more corroded it will get.
