I have an iPhone 6 that was dropped and wouldn’t turn on anymore. We though it was just a bad screen so we changed the screen. It won’t boot up. It will connect to itunes but itunes says its in recovery mode and to restore. (Nothing shows on iPhone screen). It will try restoring and it says waiting for iPhone. After awhile it will show the Apple logo on the iPhone then stay like that until Itunes gives the cannot restore error 4014 error. The phone gets scolding hot. Anyone know whats going on with it?
Since this happened right after a drop, my guess is that you damaged a power IC. The phone is sucking in power unregulated, since the power IC that controls that is damaged. In turn the battery overheats and the phone shuts down. To confirm, pull the display off the phone and examine the ICs around the power connector. If those look good, then you will have to start tracking down the ICs further away. This will require someone who knows the schematics or somehow finding the schematics. The fix will require micro soldering, a steady hand and a decent microscope.
