So I have dropped by iphone 5 in the past before, but about a month ago I dropped it and cracked the screen but got it fixed, again a month later I dropped it and the screen once again broke and shortly after, for a few hours, the screen was unresponsive but after that it worked. Now, three days later, I dropped it yet again (i know, i know, just don’t judge please lol) but this time the screen is completely unresponsive, but at times when it does work and i log into the phone, apps close and open by themselves and the phone starts randomly typing by itself and so on. though the home button works so i have been texting through the use of Siri but even that glitches sometimes. Also, my lock key has been broken for quite a while. I’m wondering what I can do to fix this problem. P.S. I can’t take it to the Apple Store because i don’t have warranty for it. Could this also be a hardware problem? Im not sure. PLEASE HELP.

This is a great example of a iphone 5 touch ic with broken solderballs below. Of course the causes could be many other but the drops of the phone point right to the U14 Touch IC beeing the culprit. This is an easy repair job for an experienced technican who can replace small IC’S. I have done it many times but almost impossible for a DIY repair. Of course you could try to heat the ic and hope for a temporary fix but chances are you might make it worse or impossible to repair for an technican. Here a picture of that IC.

I forgot the picture

In some cases it can be also the screen, but since you report some sort of “ghost typing” activity, its mostlikely is the logicboard and not the screen itself. But if you have or know someone who has, a spare screen you can try and change it. Only a few places do this kind of repair (replacing IC’s on logic boards) and only a few really know what they are doing. I could help you but, I’m from germany therefore not an option for you.
