I have an iPhone SE (2. gen) with a bugging home button. The button works partially. Touch ID and double tap (to half screen) works fine. But single click doesn’t work. The home button flex cable is slightly damaged, so i thought that was the problem. I tried replacing the screen and the home button to another screen and home button from an iPhone 8 (which I know works) and then the home button doesn’t work at all. (I know that touch ID only works with the original button.) iPhone SE (2. gen) and iPhone 8 screen and home button should be interchangeable right? Any ideas how to fix this issue? Thanks :)
hello Christian, a lot depends on the type of damage to the button strip. Usually, the lack of clicking is related to a defective driver (small IC on the tape). Another button, unfortunately from another phone, will not work, you have to buy a Chinese replacement with a click function and replace that the original one. The Return to Home function will return, but Touch.ID will disappear. The button costs about $ 15, replacement is easy, if you feel up to it, you can do it. Take a picture of this damaged button, someone will tell you if it can still be repaired
