Hello, I’ve just followed the directions on this site to replace a front screen for an iphone 4 that was smashed. After assembly I plugged in the phone to my computer using an apple connector but nothing happened not even a vibration - dead as a dodo. Upon reassembly, I saw a very quick, short flash from the camera flash part when attaching the large shield-like part that has 5 screws on it (part 13 on instructions to disassemble). I was wondering if this means ive shorted it or something went wrong? I’ve since taken it all apart, cleaned all connections with isopropanol and put it back together. Nothing’s changed. I’m now going to try charging it overnight but until then, any suggestions? Edit - battery now at 100% and restore performed. Links just fine to my computer too but still no screen activity. ughhh.

You should always disconnect the battery when you are doing repairs. Did you test the screen before assembly? Otherwise you could try to connect the old screen to see if that is not the problem. The camera flashing is not a good sign I only had that with liquid damage. If that doesn’t work it look like you shorted something out. You will need to inspect the motherboard for damages and see if you can change the damaged components.
