Edit: It is an Xs This morning I got a pop up saying my storage was full (or about to be full, I think) and I went to delete all the videos and photos in my deleted folder and it said they were deleted but they remained. I went to settings but the settings app crashed. I turned it off and it wouldn’t turn on again. It just got stuck at the apple logo. Apple advised me to plug it in, then volume up click, volume down click and hold the power so I got the ‘restore’ screen. The computer wouldn’t download the software update for it because I hadn’t got Big Sur. I downloaded Big Sur and have been trying to download the software update in Finder so I can try and update instead of resetting and losing my data. Several times the download started but then just dissapeared. When I retried the screen said ‘your mac is downloading a software update for this iPhone and will install it when the download is complete’ but there was no progress bar or the bar was a moving candy cane stripe with no number. I restarted the laptop and now it is downloading incredibly slowly (less than 0.1 MB increments per second) and then suddenly disappeared and the iPhone didn’t show up in the sidebar anymore, and the restore screen went away and was replaced with the apple logo. I presume the download stops because the phone turns off. It periodically shuts down and reboots. Sometimes the screen flashes green. Has anyone had this problem with their phone/software download? If so do you know the cause? What was your fix? Any help appreciated. Thank you.
Have you tried resetting the device using DFU mode? Should definitely fix it if the problem isn’t hardware related. Also double check to make sure your cable isn’t playing up, maybe try a couple different cables? If you’re not sure how to enter DFU mode to hard reset the phone, follow the steps below; Quick-press the Volume Up button.Quick-press the Volume Down button.Press and hold the Side button until the screen goes black.Release the Side button once the screen blacks out, then quickly press and hold both the Side and Volume Down buttons together for 5 seconds. After 5 seconds, release the Side button without letting go of the Volume Down button.Continue holding down the Volume Down button for at least 5 seconds. At this point the screen should be entirely black and the computer will recognise the device even though the screen is not on. If the screen is showing any prompt for iTunes then you’ll need to try the DFU steps again. After trying all of this, if you’re device still seems to be boot looping or losing power, then it’s likely hardware issue like battery or lightning port.
