Chosen Solution
I wanted to get some help with the product before I leave a product review. I went through the super detailed steps on the guide – and thanks a lot for that! The video and images were also really useful to understand some of the details when text wasn’t enough. However, after fixing my iPhone X display, I am facing these major quirks which I hope to get some help on –
- Every morning I need to press down the bottom left hand corner of the screen as it keeps popping back up. I have no idea how to fix it.
- I’ve noticed the adaptive screen dimming feature doesn’t seem to work all the time.
- Face ID seems to work erratically ever since I replaced this. For me I need to keep my phone at a much larger distance (almost 1.5 ft) for consistency. I even tried to reset the face id, and at some angles (top left quadrant) it wouldn’t properly “register” the face.
- I’ve started to observe some slight redness (similar to the burn ins I see on my old iPhone) on the bottom part of the screen (last 2-3mm) which is visible only on dark grey backgrounds. I’ve started to see this more often now and I hope it doesn’t continue to grow. Can you help me resolve these issues? Thanks, Bhavik Update (06/22/2021) Thank you @tojaert for your response! I had bought the iFixit OLED display kit for my phone - are you saying this could have a defect? I didn’t follow your suggestion about the imprint on the LCD matrix - this was “brand new” ifixit oled display kit - do I need to replace it again? I am curious if it’s a good idea to open this again to check the sensor module bracket.
hello Bhavik, it looks like your new screen has a factory defect. This is often the case when we use the cheapest substitutes (inCell). The OLED technology screens behave completely differently, and I encourage you to use them. the badly profiled frame of the new screen is not 100% compatible with the housing. Requires local adjustments (file, knife, etc.)in addition, you have an incorrectly positioned sensor module bracket in the new screen (often the mount is inserted crookedly in the Chinese factory). As a result, the cameras do not make full use of the light from the eyes looking at the screen. You have to peel it off warm and insert it in the right place (tightening with three micro-screws)adaptive dimming - same reason. Additionally, you should take into account the filters used, or even their absence on the glass surface (from the inside)i think what you see is an imprint on the lcd matrix. Unfortunately - again the reason is Chinese quality of products at a low price. A Hard-OLED screen should cost around $ 40-50 if you can transfer it yourself. Consider replacing it again.
