Chosen Solution

Hi a friend of mine dropped his Iphone X in the water. After turning it off and keeping it in rice for a week he went to turn it back on but keeps going into bootloop. The logo lights up, a small line appears on the screen and then goes out. So I went to open it and in the end I found that disconnecting the touch screen cable the phone starts up normally. Now my question is: can anything be done? Can the contacts be cleaned in any way? Could I solve the problem if I completely change the display?

Hi Rice does not solve the problems caused by corrosion due to water coming into contact with electronics. Rice is for dinner, not repair The impurities in the water causes corrosion and provides circuit paths for the electricity which were not in the phone’s operating design and could damage the components. The corrosion starts immediately and is ongoing until it is completely cleaned away First do not try to charge or to turn on your phone and then remove/disconnect the battery as soon as possible from the phone to minimize any further damage. Given that it seems to work by only having to disconnect the digitizer flex cable hopefully all it needs is a screen replacement but time will tell. Here is the ifixit iPhone X Screen Replacement guide that will help with this If this process seems too daunting, take your phone to a reputable, professional phone repair service, experienced in liquid damage repair and ask for a quote for a repair.
