A number of years ago I connected my iPod classic 80gb to a docking speaker and upon doing so it made a popping noise like static almost. Ever since then the iPod won’t turn off, I think its a problem with the connector inside the iPod, like the connectionists bent or something. The device charges and works fine as long as I have the battery charged, it also maintains a charge, but again it is like its always on. I can restart the device with no problem. nothing wrong with the screen but it runs the battery dead because it won’t turn off. Currently I have it in my vehicle on a USB port that only works with the car is on so everyday it has to charge again before I can use. Any help would be appreciated.
Does the iPod turn off if you press & hold the play/pause button for a few seconds? You can also go to Settings > Main Menu and select Sleep. This will add a sleep button to the main menu.
