I plugged my ipod in and there is no display, no charge symbol, nothing. It isnt drawing power from the outlet either.

Try a different charger and/or cable. If that doesn’t do it, with a device that old, it is likely the battery needing to be replaced. Next would be the power connector is broken. Outside of that, it could be bricked. Here’s to hoping it’s just a cable! :)

Do you have a inline volt meter to verify it’s not pulling power. It could possibly be the battery, it could also be the tristar ic which controls charging and data transfer in and out of the ipod. It could have a bad charging port and once the battery dies and it won’t charge it can’t turn on. You need to open it up and hook it up to a good battery or a dc power source to see if it will turn on and that will include soldering because the battery is soldered on. If it will turn on you should test and see if iTunes will recognize it. And use a tristar tester to verify it’s ok. And you can use a volt meter to verify if it’s charging. It comes down how much time and money you want to put into it. I would first open it up and check the battery with a volt meter and then plug in the charger and see if it is getting charging voltage. And go from there.
